Hollywood couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have chosen to step away from the fast-paced celebrity lifestyle in favor of a peaceful, off-the-grid existence on their charming farm in Connecticut.

Surrounded by goats, pigs, alpacas, and miniature horses, the actors have found joy, purpose, and even new dietary habits in their countryside sanctuary.

Farm Life with a Purpose
In a 2023 interview, Kevin Bacon, known for his roles in Leave the World Behind and Toxic Avenger, shared how life on the farm has changed his relationship with food. “I no longer eat goat and I no longer eat pig,” he admitted. “Because I have goats and I have pigs.”

The actor, whose farm is home to four goats, two pigs, three alpacas, and three miniature horses, explained how his bond with the animals has made it emotionally difficult to continue eating certain meats. “My wife is like, ‘We can’t get any more animals, because you’re going to stop eating everything,’” he joked.

Beyond caring for animals, the couple enjoys working in their garden, harvesting fresh herbs, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, and basil.

“Taking something hot off the vine that feels warm and smells like it’s been created by all these natural forces—sun, air, water, earth, dirt—and then putting it into your body to sustain yourself… it’s a great reminder of how important it is to protect this boat we’re all riding in,” Kevin reflected.

From Humble Meals to Meaningful Moments

Kevin’s passion for food and cooking was born out of necessity during his early days as a struggling actor in New York City. With limited ingredients and even fewer dishes, he recalls throwing together leftovers like eggs, onions, and pasta, frying them in a single pan, and eating straight from it.

While his circumstances have certainly changed, he still prefers home-cooked meals to upscale dining. And even though he has the means for a chef, he still handles the kitchen cleanup himself—especially since Kyra doesn’t enjoy doing dishes.

Singing with Goats and Finding Joy Online
Farm life hasn’t taken Kevin and Kyra out of the spotlight entirely. The couple, who also spend time in Los Angeles and New York City, occasionally feature their animals in lighthearted TikTok videos—many of which show Kevin strumming his guitar and serenading his goats.

Kyra noted the surprise of fans, saying with a laugh, “People were like, ‘We love you singing with the goats.’ Kevin and I are like, ‘Great, have you seen our movies or TV shows?’” Still, she welcomed the unexpected attention. “It makes people happy,” she added.

Kevin revealed that singing with the animals began during the COVID-19 pandemic as a spontaneous way to lift spirits. Despite the isolation of the time, it sparked a creative outlet and deepened their appreciation for their simple life.

Kevin gave her the goats, Macon and Louis, as wedding anniversary presents. He noted that Kyra genuinely appreciated receiving animals for such a special occasion. She said, “I was very touched. It was beautiful.”

A Hollywood Love Story That Lasts
Kevin and Kyra’s bond stretches far beyond the farm. The couple met on the set of the PBS movie Lemon Sky in the late 1980s and tied the knot in 1988. Over three decades later, they remain one of Hollywood’s most enduring love stories.

They often credit their strong relationship to mutual respect, laughter, and a shared passion for the arts—and now, for farm life too. Despite their fame, their commitment to a quiet, grounded lifestyle and to each other continues to inspire fans.

“We’ve been through so much together,” Kyra once said in an interview. “The good, the bad, the chaotic—but at the end of the day, we’re still crazy about each other.”

Still Passionate About Their Craft

Though they’ve embraced the calm of rural life, neither has left their careers behind. Kevin is grateful to continue working in film and television and says the pandemic gave him a fresh appreciation for acting.
