On May 1, 2025, the White House press room heated up as Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded forcefully to Kamala Harris’s scathing remarks about President Donald Trump.

The press briefing came just one day after former Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her first major public speech since losing the 2024 presidential election.

Speaking at the Emerge 20th Anniversary Gala in San Francisco, Harris accused the Trump administration of causing “the greatest man-made economic crisis in modern presidential history” and abandoning American values.

Stephen Miller Says Trump “Saved America”

When asked about Harris’s speech, Stephen Miller quickly launched into a fiery defense of President Trump.

“It was a great reminder to the American people of just how blessed we are that the leader sitting in the Oval Office today is President Donald Trump and not President Kamala Harris,” Miller said.

He described Harris’s remarks as a “helpful reminder” of the “travesty” that a Harris presidency would have been. According to Miller, her leadership would have unleashed “radical regulations,” collapsed domestic energy production, and allowed the outsourcing of American supply chains.

He further warned that under Democratic policies, the nation would have suffered from “oppressive taxes, border chaos, woke ideology, and the collapse of law and order.”

Miller blamed Harris and former President Joe Biden for what he called an “open-border invasion” and suggested that their policies had endangered American lives. “The only thing Americans want to hear from Kamala Harris is an apology,” he declared, accusing both leaders of leaving an “eternal stain” on the Democratic Party.

Karoline Leavitt Mocks Harris’s Comeback
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed Miller’s tone, mocking Kamala Harris’s return to the national spotlight.

“I think I speak for everyone at the White House — we encourage Kamala Harris to continue doing speaking engagements,” she said with sarcasm.

Leavitt also jabbed at Joe Biden, who gave a speech on Social Security the same night Harris spoke.

“My first reaction was, I’m shocked he’s speaking at nighttime. I thought his bedtime was much earlier than that,” she joked.

She assured reporters that President Trump remains committed to protecting Social Security for “law-abiding, tax-paying American citizens and seniors.”
