Claims of a massive lawsuit made rounds online, but what’s really going on between Karoline Leavitt and The View panel?

Karoline Leavitt hasn’t been White House press secretary for long, but she’s already become a regular name in political and media coverage.

Along with ongoing tensions with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace and CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Leavitt has also been linked to rumors about a lawsuit involving The View.

Claims have been made all over social media platforms that Leavitt is suing the show for $800 million.

Although Leavitt’s staff has denied the claims that any such lawsuit was filed, there’s a history of friction between Leavitt and the hosts of the show.
In January 2025, Joy Behar suggested on air that Leavitt may have been chosen for her appearance rather than her qualifications

“I think that she’s probably been put in there because, according to Donald Trump, she’s a 10,” Behar quipped. “You know that’s what it is.”

Whoopi Goldberg also criticized Leavitt’s public rejection of “wokeness,” questioning her understanding of the issues.

“I would like this young lady who — this is her first job — I would like her to do a little homework because she said something yesterday that really pissed me off. She said, ‘There will be no wokeness here,’” Goldberg said. “Let me explain something to you — without that wokeness, you might not have that job.”

Conservative commentators were quick to defend Leavitt. Ben Shapiro called Behar “openly sexist,” and Charlie Kirk called the remarks “disgusting” and “anti-woman” in a tweet. Leavitt hasn’t responded publicly to the comments or the lawsuit speculation.

The initial lawsuit rumors appear to have started with several YouTube channels. One video claimed the show was “in meltdown mode” over the alleged legal action.

Another went further, saying Leavitt had already won the case. But there is no public record of any lawsuit. One of the channels even includes a disclaimer saying its content is for “entertainment purposes only” and doesn’t claim to be factual.
Donald Trump, in announcing Leavitt’s appointment, dismissed the idea that her appearance played any role in her selection.

“Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary,” he said. “Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator.”
