The former White House Press Secretary and rising national figure took time out of her busy schedule this week to visit her hometown high school in New Hampshire — but what she did there wasn’t political. It was deeply personal.
She was there for one reason: to honor the man who never forgot her, and whom she never forgot.
“He was always the first smile I saw in the morning and the last person making sure everything was clean at night,” Karoline shared in a tearful Instagram post. “He treated every student with dignity and kindness. He never asked for thanks. But today, I’m thanking him.”

“This is yours,” Karoline told him. “You’ve given this school your all. You’ve walked to work for 14 years, even in the snow. Not anymore.”
Joe stood frozen, then collapsed into tears, clutching the keys with trembling hands as students rushed to hug him.
“I don’t even know what to say,” he whispered. “Nobody’s ever done anything like this for me.”

Karoline also revealed she had prepaid the insurance and registration, and set up a GoFundMe scholarship in Joe’s name to help future students from working-class families.
“This is about honoring a man who never asked for anything, and gave everything,” she said.
