Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Bid Farewell to Iconic Studio After 37 Years: ‘Our Kids Grew Up Here’ – The Emotional Goodbye You Didn’t Expect

It was a bittersweet moment on the set of Live with Kelly and Mark as the long-running daytime talk show filmed its final episode at its Upper West Side studio. After 37 years of unforgettable memories, the iconic studio at 7 Lincoln Square, located at 67th St. and Columbus Ave., will no longer be the home of the popular morning program.

For fans of the show, it marks the end of an era, but for Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, it was a deeply personal moment as they reflected on how much the space has meant to their family over the years. The couple, who currently co-host the show, shared heartfelt memories of their time spent in the studio, which became a second home for their three children: Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 22.

The couple revealed that their kids grew up in the very walls of the studio. “Our kids grew up here,” said Consuelos, who officially became a co-host in April 2023. “They’d come visit mom here a lot—they were always backstage, even when they were babies.” Ripa echoed these sentiments, recalling how their children were a constant presence on set, even before they were old enough for school. “They came to work with me every day until they went to school,” she said. “They would go to All My Children with me, they would come here with me… we mean when we say they grew up in this building, in these four walls.”

The emotional farewell comes at a time when both Ripa and Consuelos are reflecting on the significance of the studio not only in their professional lives but also in their personal lives. As Ripa pointed out, the studio allowed her to balance being a full-time working woman and a full-time mother. “You could bring your kids to work with you,” she shared. “And because they’re very mindful of our hours here… I was able to be a full-time working woman and a full-time mother simultaneously, which is a very rare thing and not something I take for granted at all.”

But the ties to the studio go beyond just family memories. Ripa and Consuelos revealed that the set brought them together in a way that forever changed their lives. The pair, who were once on All My Children, faced a brief breakup in 1996. However, a surprise appearance together on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee helped rekindle their love. “We had to be here,” said Consuelos. “And we both tried to get out of it, but we both ended up being here on this stage.” It was during this moment that Consuelos realized they had made a mistake and immediately proposed. “I have to be with her forever,” he said. “And I asked her to marry me and we flew to Vegas the next day.”

The emotional farewell is compounded by the fact that Live with Kelly and Mark is among the last shows to move out of the beloved studio to the Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters at 7 Hudson Square. This transition is part of a broader move as the network repositions its shows in a modern, upgraded space.

For Ripa and Consuelos, leaving the studio behind is not just a career shift—it’s the end of an emotional chapter for their family. “We owe a lot to this place,” Ripa said. “And it’s going to be hard to replicate.” As the couple prepares to make their mark in the new space, fans are eager to see how the transition unfolds. Will the new studio provide the same magical energy that made their old home so special? Only time will tell.

As the network prepares for this big move, the Consuelos family will always carry the memories of their time spent in their iconic studio—a place that truly felt like home.
