“Our HOA President — the Classic ‘Karen’ — Parked Her Car Across My Driveway and Refused to Move, Screaming That She ‘Owned the Neighborhood.’ I Called a Tow Truck. She Went Berserk, Tried to Stop the Police From Towing It… and Ended Up Getting Herself Arrested Instead.”
If you’ve ever lived in a neighborhood with an HOA, you probably know that one person — the one who thinks being on the board means they run the entire world.
In my case, her name was Nancy Reynolds — though everyone just called her the HOA Karen.

Chapter 1 – The Queen of Rules
Nancy had lived in our neighborhood for twenty years and treated it like her personal kingdom.
She was the president of the HOA — self-appointed, self-righteous, and self-obsessed.
She patrolled the streets twice a day, clipboard in hand, writing “violations” for everything from grass being half an inch too long to Christmas lights left up one day after New Year’s.
Her favorite phrase?
“As HOA president, I have authority here.”
The rest of us called her “The Sheriff Without a Badge.”
I’d kept my distance from her for years — until one summer weekend, when she finally decided to make me her next victim.
Chapter 2 – The Setup
It started because of my driveway.
I had contractors scheduled to deliver lumber for a deck I was building. They needed full access to my driveway and curb.
I put up cones and a small “No Parking — Delivery Zone” sign the night before.
The next morning, I came outside… and there it was.
A shiny white SUV parked directly across my driveway.
License plate? HOA1.
I kid you not.
And standing next to it, sipping coffee like she owned the place, was Nancy.
“Morning!” she said cheerfully. “You can’t block the street with those cones. I moved them for you.”
I blinked. “Nancy, you parked across my driveway. I have deliveries coming any minute.”
She smirked. “Then they’ll have to wait. HOA rules say public roads are first come, first serve.”
“This isn’t a public road,” I said. “It’s private access to my home.”
She crossed her arms. “As HOA president, I can park here if I need to. I’m inspecting properties today.”
That was it.
Chapter 3 – The Tow
I called the non-emergency police line and the local towing company.
When the tow truck arrived twenty minutes later, Nancy was standing in front of her SUV, phone in hand, pretending to record “harassment.”
The tow driver, a friendly guy named Dave, got out and said, “Ma’am, this car’s blocking a private driveway. You need to move it.”
Nancy pointed at me. “This man doesn’t own this road! I’m HOA president! This is community property!”
Dave shrugged. “The police already confirmed it’s his property. Please step aside.”
She didn’t.
Instead, she spread her arms wide like a traffic barrier.
“You touch this car, and I’ll have you arrested!” she shouted.
Dave sighed. “Ma’am, I’m literally here with police authorization.”
I swear, you could see the steam coming out of her ears.
Chapter 4 – The Police Arrive
At that moment, two patrol cars pulled up.
The officers stepped out — calm, professional, clearly used to dealing with this sort of thing.
“Ma’am,” one officer said, “you’re obstructing private property. You need to move your vehicle immediately.”
Nancy marched right up to him, finger raised. “Do you know who I am? I am the HOA president! I have legal jurisdiction here!”
The officer blinked. “That’s not how HOAs work, ma’am.”
Her voice rose. “This man doesn’t follow the rules! He has unapproved construction materials in his yard! He’s a violator!”
I tried not to laugh. “You mean the lumber for the deck you denied three times for ‘aesthetic reasons’?”
The officer sighed. “Ma’am, please step aside before we have to escalate this.”
That was when she made the mistake that sealed her fate.
Chapter 5 – The Meltdown
Nancy shoved the officer.
Not hard — but enough.
The entire street went silent.
“Ma’am,” he said slowly, “you just committed assault on a law enforcement officer.”
Her eyes went wide. “No I didn’t! He was in my personal space!”
“You approached me,” he said.
Before she could argue, the second officer gently took her by the arm. “Ma’am, please turn around.”
Nancy screeched. “This is harassment! I’m the HOA! You can’t arrest me!”
Spoiler: they could.
They handcuffed her — calmly, quietly — as she continued yelling about bylaws and neighborhood decorum.
Meanwhile, Dave the tow driver just hooked up the SUV and towed it away.
Chapter 6 – The Fallout
The entire neighborhood came outside to watch.
Phones out.
People whispering.
It was poetic.
By evening, half the community had already seen the video — “HOA President Loses It and Gets Arrested.”
The next day, an emergency HOA meeting was called.
Nancy didn’t attend. She was “taking a leave of absence,” according to an email sent by her husband.
When the board voted to replace her, nobody objected.
Not even her closest friends.
Chapter 7 – The Aftermath
Two weeks later, I got a letter of apology from the HOA — the new HOA president, that is.
“Mr. Morrison, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by Ms. Reynolds’ actions. Her behavior does not reflect the values of our community.”
The best part?
The HOA refunded me the $350 towing fee “as a goodwill gesture.”
Nancy eventually moved out a few months later. Rumor had it she tried to start a new HOA in her new neighborhood.
It lasted exactly three weeks before they dissolved it.
Epilogue – The Lesson
Sometimes karma doesn’t need help.
All it takes is patience, paperwork, and a tow truck.
Now, every time I see a “No Parking” sign, I smile a little.
Because somewhere out there, an HOA Karen is still telling a cop she’s “in charge.”
And somewhere else…
a tow driver named Dave is probably grinning, too.
The End.
